            About Us

Boldly Grown Farm is a certified organic, family farm in Skagit Valley owned and operated by Jacob Slosberg and Amy Frye. Jacob is a Seattle native who has wanted to farm since high school. Amy grew up running around on her grandparents' farm in Minnesota. Prior to starting Boldly Grown Farm, our paths crossed at the University of British Columbia's organic farm in Vancouver, BC, where Jacob managed vegetable production and pastured poultry and Amy managed operations, sales and marketing.
Our primary focus is on storage crops — winter squash, beets, carrots, radicchio, fall brassicas, onions, garlic, and more — for sale over the fall and winter months. We also grow flowers for sale and to provide pollinator habitat. We pride ourselves on our high-quality products, impeccable order fulfillment and responsive customer service.

Practices

We are Certified Organic with Oregon Tilth. Following organic practices means that we grow our crops without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. We use cover cropping and crop rotations to improve soil fertility, build organic matter and manage diseases. We manage pests by providing habitat for beneficial insects, scheduled monitoring and, when needed, targeted use of organic inputs. We manage weeds through tractor cultivation and a whole lot of hand weeding! In future years we hope to incorporate grains and pastured poultry into our farm, creating a diverse and resilient agroecosystem.
